Overloaded on fantasy recently, so this is an SF-heavy period: Brian Aldiss' classic Helliconia Trilogy, Ian McDonald's THE DERVISH HOUSE (the thematic follow-up to the well-received BRASYL and RIVER OF GODS), Hannu Rajaniemi's THE QUANTUM THIEF (trailed as the SF debut of the year) and Chris Beckett's THE HOLY MACHINE (which may be a challenger to the SF debut title). All looking pretty good so far.
