I know about 130 cuneiform signs well enough to not have to look them up and it's fun transcribing that into "normalized" Akkadian and then translating. The thing is that I never learned the Old Babylonian forms for the symbols (they look a lot funkier - the Neo-Assyrian is what most people think of with cuneiform). I also have to work on the derived forms of the verbs...I think this whole detour into perfecting Akkadian has set me back about one year in reading.
Oh well.
