Gail Z. Martin was very cool- she put me in her video blog for Con Carolinas (talking about my books). Other than that, she and her husband and I talked about the vacation they were about to take, because they were headed to Myrtle Beach, where my parents live. David B. Coe is also a very nice guy. We talked about his books, and the Dragonpage podcast.
I haven't met them in person, but when I was requesting blurbs for Cibola, David Golemon, Jeremy Robinson, Robert Masello, and James Rollins all were very gracious, and the first three got back to me right away. Jeremy even provided a critique of my first draft, which was great (he and I are e-mail friends from way back.) James Rollins cracked me up- I never got a blurb back from him, so I figured he was either too busy or didn't like the book. A couple of months after the release, he e-mailed me saying that he was frantically cleaning his office prior to a video crew's arrival, and realized he had mixed my ARC in with some books he was using for research. He apologized profusely and promised to blurb my next book. Very nice guy.

Who's the coolest author you've ever met in person, and what did you talk to them about?

Neil Gaiman. I asked him what comic books to read apart from his & Alan Moore's.

Neil Gaiman (for, like, 2 seconds at a signing) and China Mieville (for a 30 min interview!)
