Моя цыганская? It was much better without Jon Stewart and The Daily Show blaring. *edit*

Not that I have anything against Jon Stewart. Just not at the same time as reading poetry.
Quite the black mood he was in. I have my black moods so that wasn't beyond my understanding.
I have to ask this. Are Russians in general maybe a little more genetically pre-disposed for depression or manic depression? Or does it seem that way to me because most of my exposure to Russians has been through the arts and creativity and depression are opposite sides of the same coin?
My favorite line:
In the taverns are green carafes
And white tablecloths -
It's heaven for paupers and for clowns
But I'm like a bird in its cage there.
------
It seems that this line was open to several interpretations:
Somewhere horses dance in step
Reluctantly but smoothly.
Did he do that on purpose or did he have something specific in mind?
----
I don't know that I have ever really given that much thought to what it would be like to live in a "socialist worker's paradise". Most of what I heard about it was during the cold war and even then I distrusted propoganda. There were so many conflicting stories.
----------
He has an interesting voice. Very fitting for the song. Some songs are meant for gravelly voices. No other voice could pull it off as well.

It might not be. It doesn't sound like it would be. But it might surprise me.
