first two books Dr. Zhivago and Boris Gudunov. I don't know why more people didn't read this month's selection but just in case it was because they assumed they wouldn't get it or were a little intimidated please don't sell yourself short! I am not that smart but the effort (if any) that I put into those two books was so worth it! I have read both of them at least twice already because I loved the way the writers wrote things. They really were beautiful even in English and even when the translation didn't do them justice.
I can't guarantee that I will like the rest of the books but those two appealed to the part of me that loves beautiful and profound things. I don't have the verbal skills to explain what they did to me. I just hope that maybe someone reading this will say to themselves. Hey, maybe I should have tried those books after all. If Teresa can get it, anyone can get it!

Re: Gypsy Poem
I am going to have to read this again a couple times before I comment. The television is up too loud right now for me to concentrate. I will try again when I am alone or everyone is being quiet. Important things can not be fully appreciated with irritating background noise.
I think I will have fun with it.

Because Tashmere really seems to be enjoying Russian poetry in translation...

It might not be. It doesn't sound like it would be. But it might surprise me.

Моя цыганская? It was much better without Jon Stewart and The Daily Show blaring. *edit*
