I also liked those that Paksennarrion served in Elizabeth Moon's books including St. Gird (yeah, he's not actually a diety); I was actually rather moved at one point by one of the short stories set in that world.
Who are your favourite gods/deities in fiction... and why? What do you like about them?
My favourite remains the Valar written by Tolkein. I especially loved all their history and lore in the Silmarillion, as well as their different abilities, personalities and exploits against Morgoth. I also like how he wrote about the various Maia and what they all got up to.
