And considering I've written hundreds of reviews over the years, some of them of an "academic" nature, I suppose you'd like to read those as well?

Send me a link. I'll always keep an open mind, and in case youu haven't noticed, I'm more than willing to open my mouth (or keyboard) ot expess my opinion (or inset my foot).
However, if I feel you are trying to interpret themes or mesages into a writers work that the writer did not intend, then expect me to blast ya. I've had it dont to things I've said or written so I have very little patience for it (as you've seen in the Dune thread). I not only don't follow the whole Dead Writer school of thought, I am vehemently opposed to it.
Also endless whining about how a reviewer dislikes the style an author used (such as Jordan's meandering), to the point that it becomes the entire review (like what Roberts is doing) I find completely worthless. I don't like the 3rd person narative style, but spendinng an entire review of Tolkein's Ring War whining about it goes well beyond stupid, into a pathetic atempt to insult the author.
In AR's case it is taking on more and more of a flavor of petty jealousy because almost every one of the books he is ripping sold more copies than all of his combined. I can almost see the scene in one of his lectures as one student to many mentions WoT...
