Due to the month-long discussions within the thread I posted in regards to Adam Roberts' reading of the series and the curiosity sparked within me about how such a re-read would go after a ten-year lapse of not having re-read the first nine volumes, I decided to review the first eleven volumes (I've already reviewed the twelfth) on the OF Blog and to post mirrors here for anyone who wants to comment on the very general comments I'll be making about my fresh reactions to each volume and how memories of ten years ago may or may not clash with the new encounters.
Needless to say, some of what I say will not be popular with many and several of my opinions might spark vociferous disagreements. It's not my intention to say others are "right" or "wrong," but rather to explore, sometimes in a breezy fashion (I have the sense there may be more to say as the re-read progresses), initial reactions (re-reactions?) to what I have read. I will not analyze the texts nor look very deeply into some "pet theories"; that is not the purpose of this re-read, so please refrain from trying to persuade me to consider this or that "theory" or speculation.
Having said all that, I'll keep all my commentaries in this one thread and it'll likely be 1-3 days between commentaries (I'm also reviewing the original Dune series in the same fashion, plus I'm also working on a half-dozen other projects both online and not, so time may be of the essence). Feel free to remark. Just don't take offense if I'm slow to respond during the work weeks
