There were lots of pictures submitted to wotmania over the years, and a lot of them were much better than these.
Your friend has a bad sense of proportion generally. Lanfear's breasts are too big for her frame (unless she had implants), her midsection is WAY too long (unless she's Gumby), her hips are too narrow based on the breasts and her feet are HUGE. The face is well done, though.
The Ishamael picture has a problem with lack of depth - the midsection is sized and drawn such that it looks like he's a cutout and there's no depth to him. Also, it seems like the head is too big for the body.
As others have pointed out, Graendal looks like a shemale. Also, his/her feet are drawn terribly. One is very obviously bigger than the other.
The "they're too cartoonish" comment is one that I would agree with, but "cartoonish" is a valid choice in terms of format if you want to go that way. But if you are going to go that way, it would be good to find a better artist. Better yet, have a competition at the site or take various styles of artwork for different Forsaken from the wotmania pictures.
