It is not like the Oaths actually result in good outcomes. I could believe it if a doctor said "My life is based around the Hippocratic Oath."
It sounds stupid when an Aes Sedai says "The Oaths make me an Aes Sedai." I think they forget that it is the Aes Sedai that makes the Oaths and gives them their power, not the Oaths themselves which form this identity (hence the individual interpretation and etc).
