The question is, did Jordan take the easy way, or just not have the room to write it all? Would we be on book 20 if they had to take the harder path?
Me, I enjoy the story for the story, the details, the plot, etc. As an aspiring writer, I do see where you are coming from. Their rise was a little too easy, and painless. A little more sacrifice for the charachters would add to the dynamics. Given the length, as I mentioned, would it slow things down?
With 2 books left, we can hope to see some sacrifice, or some price to pay for their power at the least. Though, if it is not, I do not think it will overly detract from it, at least for the average fan. Those who will look at it in hindsight, might.
I think, though, that a series that can evoke such an essay(s) as you've written regarding this topic, and others, should surely stand up for some time to come even if for nothing more then a great read.

The past is just that, the past. You can only truly live by looking to the future!

Ha! Imagine if I didn't double-space the paragraphs. That is a fairly new practice on my part. *NM*

I was more focussed on the cost of GETTING power, not the prices of discharging it responsibly
