My point is that most of the Forsaken have been defeated or killed by their own weaknesses - Rahvin's pride, Lanfear's over-confidence, Ishamael's hubris, Moghediens' cowardice, for example. Thus it makes sense that a Forsaken would die in an ironic way - ie: pulled down by their own predisposition.

Honestly, your post kind of made ME doubt Graendal's survival. All this talk of the Forsaken dying ironically because of their personal flaws really put things in perspective for me.

I've thought that the deadly sins played some part in most of the Chosen deaths. ie

Pride - Ishamael. He actually believed he was the DO himself, or he was the DO's equal in power and knowledge.

Envy - Be'lal; they didn't call him the Envious for nothing. He just HAD to try and prove himself the better swordsman instead of just using his superior OP knowledge/skills.

Gluttony - Aginor simply could not stop himself from drawing on too much of the One Power; burning himself out as a result. Same could apply to his work ethic and thirst for knowledge.

Greed - Rahvin/Balthamel

Lust - Lanfear's lust for power, and esp her obsessive love for LTT made her blind and stupid. Could also apply to Balthamel.

Wrath - Sammael has intense hatred for LTT. Why else would he keep that scar and ages old grudges.

Sloth - Graendal. Formerly a hard-working ascetic, she did a complete 180 and became apathetic and lazy. If she did indeed die, of which I am now 90% sure, then she met her end doing what she did best, nothing.

other "sins" ...

Despair - Semirhage; for one who loved visiting such a thing upon her victims, she was left feeling abandoned in her time of need.

Vainglory - Asmodean died in the worst way possible. All his life, he wanted to be a reknowned artist. and he died without anyone knowing what happened to him or who did him in. HAH!

I think the most balanced (or smartest) of the Forsaken is Demandred. He maintained his secret identity/location without making a blip on the "radar". I guess he is indeed one step away from being the Dragon.
BOHICA - Go ahead, ask me what it means.

Hmmm, I don't think so. I think it may be indicative of his own end, though. - 17/03/2010 05:11:18 PM 410 Views

Arangar's allies die because she kills them, not because of some random twists of fate... - 17/03/2010 08:18:24 PM 339 Views

If you're referring to the reference to "those who found graves", then it fits most Forsaken deaths - 17/03/2010 09:15:03 PM 284 Views
