No one knows if Darkhounds are more powerful than wolves in the wolf dream, hence a wolf vs Darkhound face-off is still possible.
Then again, can Darkhounds access the wolf dream??
Another point, wolves have long memories, and seeing the growing importance of knowledge in the series of late, they may 'remember' something crucial to fighting the Shadow (either specifically about the Darkhounds, or more generally about the DO).
