There are two things that can determine if Graendal died, and it has nothing to do with the plot...

I have been coming here for a while and reading peoples theories since the site opened. I must say there is some pretty good stuff on here. This is my first post so please bare with me a bit on this. Let me start this by saying that I have not yet read tGS, I simply have a weakness for spoilers. I have read quite a few different things about Graendal's death and whether she is alive or not, and there is good evidence to support both theories. However... Maybe all anyone really needs to do is discard what happens in the book, and I believe they find their answer (sounds crazy right???). I have noticed something in the series and have always wondered how many others picked up on it. Well here it is. All the way in the series up to WH the forsaken only die in ODD NUMBER books.
EoW: Aginor, Balthamel
tGH: no one
tDR: Ishamael, Be'Lal
tSR: no one
tFoH: Asmodean, Lanfear
LoC: no one
ACoS: Sammael
PoD: no one
WH: ???
CoT: ???
KoD: ???
And so on. I am re-reading the series right now, which is a good thing, because I can't remember if that cycle is ever broken. Now guessing that its not the only thing to think on is this. tGS is an even numbered book, so going by the pattern here she is not dead. If that patten was broken in book 9 (I can't remember if any forsaken died during the cleansing) then it may well be that she is dead. Not the most helpful thing I guess (probably should have waited till I was done with the re-read then posted this), but I thought it might put things in a different perspective and take some of the story line variables out a bit.

No, the 'pattern' indicates that neither Graendal nor Semirhage died.
