Also a good question why did Moraine decide to look for the Dragon in Two Rivers? If has been nearly 20 years since Gitara's fortelling that the Dragon has been reborn and Moraine started looking. Why would she look in Two Rivers for a baby only 2 people knew had been born (Tam and Kara)? Did I miss something?
The list obtained after the aiel battle (it's in new springs). Robert jordan actually does some nice foreshadowing there when he mentions tam and kara and rand on that list of an unknown location... Moraine had a list of all the babies born during a certain period of the war and rand was on it she just had to find out which was the dragon and were he was. I imagine Rand was one of the last ones she looked for because she knew only he had been born not were he was born or were he was going to live. I can't imagine how much of a pain it was to find rand it took her almost 20years. The 3rd prequel was supposed to be about how she barely made it to 2 rivers in time and her story to get there i do believe. The second was supposed to be about Tam.
In support of this, I believe in tGH (but possibly tDR), Moraine spouts some pretty in depth knowledge about Rand's father joining the guard, etc. She's clearly been doing her research! Looking into Rand's father would definitely be the easiest way to find the location of this baby (while also having the benefit of hiding her true intentions).

It would explain Myrelle's reaction to Egwene's assertion that they're in love.
