Re: These are reasons why the SPLIT is necessary. I was not questioning that.

I misunderstood your original post. I agree so far the White Tower has been mostly useless. A White Tower that had not isolated itself from the real world, a White Tower that had not blinded itself with arrogance, or a White Tower that was willing not to be the center of attention would have been a help to Rand.
What I was asking is If the split is so good and necessary, why was it so important that Egwene win? What is the significance of her victory? Why should all these benefits of the Tower's benign neglect of Rand and the world cease, and what can Egwene actually provide that is significantly better than that same benign neglect?
Egwene obviously is acceptable to both the SAS and the White Tower AS, and can unite the Tower. Egwene will not allow the White Tower to be subjugated by Rand, but will allow the White Tower to be allied with Rand. Egwene has a much more adaptable mind (since she hasn't been indoctrinated by the Tower for 100 years) than the average Aes Sedai. Her castigating the Aes Sedai for trying to capture Rand, for trying to control Rand, and her idea of an embassy to Rand all suggest she is willing to help Rand.
A united White Tower adds strength in the number of channelers, a skill set the WO and windfinders don't have, an army with a Great General, and moral and diplomatic suasion in Randland. A White Tower willing to facilitate Rand's victory would be very helpful indeed. Randland would be much better off with benign neglect than a White Tower that is trying to "guide" Rand's victory

So what was the point of the White Tower struggle?

The Tower will likely have some sort of "badass army" moment at the end... or, they'd BETTER

These are reasons why the SPLIT is necessary. I was not questioning that.

So what? This is more or less true, but it has zero relevance to the issue of the Tower.
