The Tower will likely have some sort of "badass army" moment at the end... or, they'd BETTER

Of all of the different groups of channelers, the Aes Sedai have only two advantages.
1) Their influence. Wise Ones own the Waste, and Windfinders can control the waves, but Aes Sedai can influence anyone in "The Westlands" (man, do I hate that name), which is the main battleground.
2) Their knowledge. They can link. They can Heal. (I'm not counting Traveling- everyone can pretty much do that at this point, barring sul'dam) They can undoubtedly do dozens, hundreds of other things that other groups can't. Even though they're pretty boring and insular, they still have almost three (or is it two?) millenia of working with the One Power under their belts.
#2 is the key. If the Greens can get their act together and fulfill what's essentially the ONLY REASON FOR THEIR EXISTENCE, then the Aes Sedai might have a chance at being relevant.
But you're right, up until now, they really haven't been.

I amuse myself.
So what was the point of the White Tower struggle?

Such a resolution could have been a minor plot point like settling Tear or Cairhien

These are reasons why the SPLIT is necessary. I was not questioning that.

So what? This is more or less true, but it has zero relevance to the issue of the Tower.
