How did the Dragon get put on the scabbard? Its not like that was AH's mascot? The world had forgotten what a Dragon looked like. The only exceptions were Aes Sedai scholars and the Aiel.
I don't know, that's why I said it was a good question.
It seems possible, to me, that the scabbard (and the sword too) predate AH by a LONG time - perahps all the way back to the Breaking (or even before), when the dragon would certainly have been a well-known symbol.
Unless you think whoever found the sword/scabbard combo, but the Dragon on it for Rand.
No, that's what I was trying to say wasn't the case. Rand thinks of the whole combo being centuries old, IMO, including the lacquered dragon. That's why he thinks it's so odd that a sword that old was related to him somehow. If the dragon had been painted on it after it had been unearted, Rand wouldn't think it was odd.
