- Compulsion that disappears on delving has never been seen or heard of in the series. It's pure speculation at best.
Its just variation on a theme. We have already seen weaves which dissapate upon contact with another weave (Rand & triggering the wards in Illian). And when it comes to channeling...everything is speculation until it happens. We didn't know that a gateway could be forced to remain open with another weave...until it was done. Either way you wanna look at it...its certainly not outside the realm of possible.
The most likely scenario is that whoever set the Compulsion was indeed balefired. To me the question is whether or not that was actually Graendal, since Nynaeve notes that the weave is different from the one she lifted from Kerb.
It is very possible that Graendal can bust out different weaves for Compulsion. She has a Talent for it after all. As per someone else who could do it?
Unless Graendal has some Black Ajah handy who are strong enough to get Compulsion going...who knows.
We do know that it takes a decent amount of the power to get it done....
