Re: I'd say there are only two serious candidates, and one clear winner

Moiraine just... kept... going for 20 years. Constantly afraid the Black Ajah was on to her, never giving up, unable to even rely much on the support of the Tower, in case said Black Ajah realized what she was doing.
I can see your point here, especially just having reread New Spring. But Verin risks her very soul for infinity, when Moiraine only risks her life on this turn of the wheel.
Lan and Moridin have too big a streak of nihilism to really be "brave."
very good point
Faile just attacks the world with the blunt object that is her personality. This is different than bravery.
HA!
That said, I like Nyn a lot, and would say that she has the best mixture of common sense and determination in the series. Usually.
Do you view Nynaeve as a major character on the level of the three t'averen and Egwene? Or more of a top supporting role?

Who is the bravest WOT character -- a soldier willing to sacrifice the most for their own cause?

Can totally get behind Tuon for that scene. Bornhold's a boring fanatic, though. *NM*

The thing is, most of the people I try to think of didn't really have a 'cause' ...
