What part of "keeping an eye on" suggests action or interference? Cannoli Send a noteboard - 22/01/2010 01:38:52 PM
What you are claiming is that these Sisters were in some way influencing Elayne's taking of the Lion Throne, but she did that with zero contact with any of those women! Show me any quote that they were doing anything outside of scheming for personal gain within the AS hierarchy and I'll believe it.

And if Elayne's situation was ever in serious trouble, they might have done something to preserve their Aes Sedai ruler. If she lost, they might have stepped in to make sure whoever defeated her was still under the Tower's thumb. Absolutely WHAT in everything we have seen about Aes Sedai makes you think they would, or even COULD act? Don't forget, Aes Sedai are forbidden from interfering with one another in public. As long as there was another sister in the Palace with Elayne, they could not approach her without the possibility of trespassing on someone else's turf.

I am not presuming to say they were there because that was their highest agenda. But even if they simply thought that due to the succession issues, it was a good place to wait out the Tower conflict, they still had the moral high ground over those who gathered an army and marched on Tar Valon, or sat back and allowed the Amyrlin to trample over sister's rights.
