Re: Perhaps being exposed to the Dark One makes them immune to such weaves from lesser foes

Also, I think holding the Power shields you from the effect somewhat because you can see the weave - when you see someone weaving a particular effect and you are prepared for it, you are more likely to associate a strange sensation with being a cause of the weave rather than allow your mind to be lulled by it. Elayne and Nynaeve weren't prepared for such an effect, and Moghedien struck too hard and with too complex a weave for their minds to make the leap necessary to protect them, so they fell under it's manipulation easily.
Hmm. But Demandred, being a male channeler, could not "see" weaves of saidar made by Graendal, and yet he believes he is protected. Not to mention that if it was only a question of being prepared, then surely it would be enough to just know that you are in danger of compulsion.
Demandred for example would not have needed to hold saidin because he would have been fully aware of Graendals nature to use compulsion and prepared for it, such as being suspicious of any abnormal emotions or thoughts he might have had in her presence.
I think the power helps in some way, though how much and whether you actually have to channel some protection weave is the question. Clearly it is not an absolute immunity.
