I considered that ... Shishka Send a noteboard - 18/01/2010 10:11:32 PM
and they seemingly revert back to about they age they were when they would have looked had they never taken the Oaths.

It's hard to say. Let's say that the normal lifespan for non-channelers is 75years. So, when a channeler starts channeling at age 15, let's say her remaining (unoathbound) years go from 60 to 600. That means, she ages at about 1/10th the "normal" rate of non-channelers. So, 2X that unoathbound rate (for oathbound channelers) would be 1/5th the normal rate.

Siuan and Leane had only been oathbound for ~20 years when they were stilled. Which means they aged 4 years (20/5) during that time. If the 2X rate reverted to 1X after they were stilled, then they would have only aged 2 years during that time, instead of 4. So, we're only talking about a visible age different of 2 years - two small, I think, to know whether the 2X affect was reversed or not.

I find this a giant hint/clue that you are correct and the only reason we haven't seen it when others remove the Oaths is that it takes some time to kick in (circumvented by Siuan and Leane due to the brutality involved). I suspect the 3 AS Rand Stilled will likely be showing signs of being unbound should we ever see them again.

If those 3 AS have been AS significantly longer than 20 years, their visibile appearance now would give us a better idea on this issue than Siuan and Leane.

I also seems to be logical to me that the AoL developers probably would have wanted a system that didn't have a long term affect on someone who was only going to be bound for a 100 years or something ... kind of like a prison sentence. Perhaps a first offense for something minor was along the lines of "you shall be bound for 50 years against crime X" if that 50 years took 100 years off of the persons life it's a much more severe punishment.

Agreed, otherwise they wouldn't have designed the Binder so that the oaths could be removed. Why design it so the oaths could be removed, if the lifespan affect couldn't also be reversed?
Rise and fall, turn the Wheel,
'cause all life is
is really just a circle.
