Ok, I know already of the thread of cuendillar and gateways from below but I would like to expand on a theory I hit upon in that thread and see what the group here would have to say about this idea.
It has been stated in an interview question with RJ that the edge of a gateway is unable to pass through cuendillar, that the edge would push the cuendillar object aside, so theoretically, if the cuendillar object is unable to be moved then the gateway will just be distorted by the interference of the object. We also have seen that Egwene has rediscovered the making of Cuendillar and has taught it to others, it involves transforming an iron object into cuendillar.
My thoughts to assist in the moving of troops in the last battle is to construct iron doorframes with a notch in the edge for the gateway boundary to fit into and turn them into cuendillar. You could make custom doorways to fit inside the larger gateways of stronger Ashaman and use to door frame to hold the gateway open and allow the Ashaman to open other gateways or pass through and attack the enemy armies without having to focus on holding the gateway open. It has been stated too many times that a major problem with moving many people through gateways is that the Ashaman tire themselves out holding the gateway open.
Now outside of war time this could be a fun new way of traveling for the common people. Think about having a doorway built into a wall of your house that leads to the other side of the world or even another planet. Fun possibilities.
I just thought that this is cool, can anyone else think of other used for cuendillar and gateways or even other uses of cuendillar when it comes to uses with the power?

I'm still not sure if cuendillar would be "destroyed" or "remain"

No - cuendillar just gets stronger the more powerful a force you use against it

Why would this mean that the gateway weave doesn't need to be maintained? *NM*
17/01/2010 03:22:58 PM

Because even if it wasn't tied off, it'd get stuck around the cuendillar doorway, unable to close. *NM*
