I think there was a direct response from RJ about Elayne not being Ilyena reborn amirebram Send a noteboard - 11/01/2010 11:38:47 PM
One of the most defining characteristics of the Wheel of Time series is the dynamic relationship between male and female characters. For many, this a make-or-break plot element, especially about the love interests between protagonists.

Throughout the book, there have been several character relationships that I wanted to happen, and I think would have been awesome if they DID happen, but have yet to occur. For example, I loved the interaction between Mat and Elayne, and really wished they could have somehow hooked up. I also loved Mat and Joline, especially in The Gathering Storm. Two others that I thought would have been cool are:

Perrin and Berelain: Not that I have anything against Perrin and Faile, but I find that I like Berelain more and more as the series has progressed, and really think that if these two had hooked up, it would make for good reading.

Thom and Moraine: Yeah, I know what you're thinking. This one is going to develop. I just wish it would happen already.

So, what relationships did you wish the characters had gotten into, but didn't (or perhaps they will later, hmm? )? Any particular reason why you like the interaction between them?

Rand and Elayne because Elayne makes the most sense to be Ilyena reborn. Elayne is also more Rand's equal and can relate to him on a more deeper level.

I agree that Perrin and Berelain would have been more dynamic than Faile - 10/01/2010 08:24:05 PM 747 Views
