I don't think you even need to read a plot summary because the book only has a few POV's. I hadn't read a WOT novel since KoD and I wasn't lost at all when I read Gathering Storm.

Sanderson also repeats/reiterates stuff from previous books to clue you in on more subtle things that might be happening.
Like, to a degree where it's going to piss me off if I keep re-reading the rest of the books prior to TGS? I know that I was seriously annoyed that it seemed like 3/4 of TSR seemed to be reiteration/repetition to "catch me up" with stuff I had just read in the preceding weeks...
