Does the again word here, used in this context, necessarily mean that the "slaying" is something that the Seanchan have done before? I am not a native english speaker but I figured that the "again" might refer not to the slaying, but rather the fact that the "seed" is mentioned for a second time in the prophecy.
Dictionary.com says that one of the possible meanings of the word "again" is:
2. in an additional case or instance; moreover; besides; furthermore.
In this case the sentence might perhaps mean that the seed burns the ancient tree, and then furthermore slays the ancient wrong. Rather than the idea that the slaying of the ancient wrong is the one that is being repeated.
Anyone who knows english well willing to say if this is theorethically possible or have my english grammar skills failed completely?
Prophecies in the books tend to be poetic and non-literal so if this is possible, the ancient wrong could still be the damane system. And since it is mentioned in the prophecy before the "great lord comes" line, it might potentially be a clue that something truly radical will happen to change things quickly before the last battle, rather than a slow reformation happening afterwards.
Perhaps Moridin will be captured by the Seanchan and they will learn that he and by extension the shadow has been behind the false prophecies and sending them over the sea in the first place. Perhaps Ishy was responsible for the Damane system aswell? That certainly seems like something the Shadow would approve of and with traveling and AoL knowledge, Ishamael could well have helped design the damn thing.
If the Seanchan were to learn that they have been unwittingly serving the DO all this time, could that produce a radical shift in opinion?
