Do we know for certain? Cadsuane has had the oaths a lot longer. Datakim Send a noteboard - 26/12/2009 06:27:12 PM

They all reverted back to youthfulness once the Oaths no longer affected them.

But Siuan, Leane and Setalle were still young, they took the oaths pretty recently so it is possible that the damage done to them by the oaths is relatively minor. Cadsuane has lived for centuries with the oaths. Do we have an example of anyone who has lived with the oaths that long and who is as physically old becoming young again after release?

Essentially it depends on how the oaths work does it not? Do the oaths just magically add a certain percentage to your age which is instantly removed when the oath is released. So will Cadsuane upon being released instantly become a young/middleaged woman with the age caused deterioration of her internal organs instantly reversing itself and her skin losing its wrinkles and her hair regaining color.

Or is the shortened lifespan a result of continual strain that actually increases the rate of aging. If this is the case then Cadsuane removing the oaths now, when her physical body is already near death would reduce the rate of aging to normal, but not reverse it. So if she had 10 years left with the oaths she might live 20 if she was released right now, but not the 200-300 that she would have otherwise.

Is there proof one way or another? I don't think so? There is as much a chance then of Egwene's plan with retirement simply not working. We don't know.
