I think it isn't a function of the power used. It's the property of the gateway ....

The way men and women make gateways are very different, yet in both instances there is a gateway, and passing though it kills shadowspun.
I see two possibilities:
1. Given that the nature of the shadowspun is such that they are slightly out of tune with the pattern (in case of the Eyeless, a full shade out of the pattern it seems), passing through a disconnect/joint (which is how one might explain a gateway) would somehow rip the life out of their body.
2. Since TP was used in their making, then they cannot pass through OP gateways.
I like the first case better, which would mean that they would still not be able to pass through TP gateways, because of the gateway and not the power used to make it.
The gateway itself isn't power. It's pattern.
