You're thinking about it not quite correctly. Phelix Send a noteboard - 17/12/2009 10:08:01 PM
Did I miss something or did the damane blast holes in the tower wall quite easily? If I remember correctly Tar Valon (the tower, harbours etc) were 'wrought' using the OP and some help from ogier masons. After Egwene turned the south harbor chain to cuendillar, the Aes Sedai had problems breaking down the parts of the wall which the chain was attached to. If I remember correctly, it took them days. The damane are apparently powerful weapons but are they that powerful so they manage to destroy the things in seconds that takes Aes Sedai several days??

The Aes Sedai were DE-constructing the chain towers, trying to remove it in pieces to make it easy to tear apart and rebuild once they'd fixed their problem. The Damane were trying to smash and grab. They didn't care if the Tower was able to be rebuilt after they were done. The Seanchan simply wanted to break in.

Also, remember that the Aes Sedai have ignored areas of the One Power that women are traditionally weak in (Earth and Fire!), whereas the Seanchan study all the areas to see if their damane can be useful in any way. They still utilize all aspects of the power available, even if women are traditionally weak in them.

Lastly, note that the Seanchan have been using Damane to build and destroy for the last 1,000 years. Aes Sedai stopped doing construction work long ago, and (as evidenced by the Green's stand in the Tower Raid) they have let their destructive abilities atrophy as well.
