The S word - Edit 1

Is it strange that we're afraid to the S word in Real Life? For those of you who are still confused, S word = The Dark One = Great Lord.
On an IMB like RAFO, why aren't we using the S word, which is shorter than "The Dark One" and "Great Lord"? People frequently use "the DO" in converstion, but why not the even shorter S'T? I can understand not using Great Lord, but why not the S word?
Is it in fact that we are subconsciously afraid of using the S word? I admit, I also use "the DO", but I'm not entirely sure why... it seemed like the natural way to refer to him/her/it. It's like referring to Rand as the Dragon Reborn or Lews Therin as Kinslayer all the time, instead of by their names.
Why? The Light blind you S'T, why?!
