It'd be the only way to really have a chance of making a successful movie franchise. Maybe a few scenes with the others when they're split up, but not much, maybe Nynaeve meeting up with Moiraine and Lan, and Perrin's rescue from the Whitecloaks.

Would you continue that idea through later movies/books? Or would you adapt it? The first three books could focus pretty much on Rand, and only occassionally have a side story happen and everything could be told that needs telling. Focusing on Rand would work for the first three movies in my opinion.

However, starting with the Shadow Rising, and onward, it would be impossible to focus just on Rand. For example, in the Shadow Rising we have the following major storylines:

1. Rand, Mat, Moiraine, Lan, Egwene in the Waste.
2. Elayne, Nynaeve, Thom, Juilin hunting BA in Tanchico.
3. Perrin, Faile, Padan Fain, Whitecloaks in the Two Rivers.

Once the major characters split up in The Shadow Rising the story is all over the place from then on. It gets even worse in later books.
