I think that Graendal, Demandred, Semirhage or Lanfear would have been a better Nae'blis and make for a more entertaining series - all four of them have/had the potential to be great, oversized villains with personalities that are exciting and fun to read.
Moridin/Ishamael, on the other hand, is just boring. And he was beaten by a shepherd. There is only so much musing on pseudo philosophy that a fantasy series can take, and I think Ishamael exceeded my quota for that back in Book 1.
