I realize that you and Cannoli would love for all channelers to run around unhampered by any oath at all, but in such a world the various channeling factions would either rule totally (maybe fighting one another using their pathetic non channeling slaves as pawns), or piss off the non channelers so much that they invent some sort of device to enslave channelers (or kill them all).
The AoL was a world evolved too over AGES. I feel confidant that the reason the world was so peaceful is that in previous ages such conflicts as I describe were so horrible that channelers finally became some sort of benevolent rulers like something out of Plato.

are unbound and are valued members of their societies. Then there is also the Kin who the common folk seem to respect and who do not go out of their way to rule anything.
AS are the problem because they have set themselves up as a pseudo-religious political entity and actively seek power. Which explains both the high % of BA and the generally declining numbers. People don't trust AS and so fewer women seek to become AS. Note that as soon as the AS changed some of their elitist rules flocks of women came looking.
It's not the ability to Channel that makes these women douchebags, it's the AS system... which clearly needs to change!

wishful thinking if you ask me. The point is "freedom" from leashes. Having the take oaths is worse. *NM*

I'd rather see them keep the a'dam, and just leash all the current sul'dam

Fortuona didn't save Egwene and a Fourth Oath to an Empress is worse than what Elaida wanted.

I don't know about being 'quick' - we've had at least 8 books to become familiar with the cultures

It refers to part of Egwene's dream that is yet unfulfilled. It COULD mean Tuon save her. *NM*
