The Aes Sedai way of thinking would probably be "For Lan, this guy died decades ago. Lan's busy raising an army against the Blight, he doesn't need to be bothered by knowing there's an evil version of some long-lost brother running around."
Perrin's actually had contact with the guy- he's a more likely candidate, I'd think.
