You can't seriously argue that it's more believeable that Egwene became a crucial player, than people like the three ta'veren or Nynaeve, or even Elayne and Aviendha. All of those have better abilities or had better training.
The three ta'veren? Mat and Perrin just rose into their positions of power due to magically acquired knowledge and ta'veren respectively. Neither really earned it, and became good at their jobs after being forced into leadership.
Rand learned from Lan and Moiraine, mostly, but most of his teaching was something Egwene was privy to as well.
Nynaeve? Exactly what has she got? Few years as village Wisdom? That makes her sensible and tough, not world leader material.
Elayne had good teachers in Morghase, Thom and Bryne, true.
Aviendha was a stubborn girl, who knew nothing but to stab with spears. She has learned only recently how to be a good WO.
Egwene, on the other hand, had Nynaeve to nurture her initially, then was really close to Moiraine, who thought her a lot. She spent a phenomenal amount of time with the Wise Ones, learning not just her TAR abilities but about how to turn situations to her advantage and to never give up.
Then she was mentored by Siuan for many months, learning the subtleties of politics and the laws of the Aes Sedai.
Who else has such a varied training? Who else showed such a tenacity to learn from any person they came across?
Really, your argument makes no sense at all.

Egwene had the best mix of teachers and a desire to learn. Most believable, IMO. *NM*

I'm re-reading the series now for the first time in years. Egwene has always been a weak character.
