Re: Traveling can be a huge advantage for the Seanchan Knightscape Send a noteboard - 05/12/2009 08:03:53 AM

This seems to pose the same problem that the Wind Finders would have trying to create Gateways for ships to Travel through. This is impossible on a practical level. Even assuming some damane are strong enough to create a Gateway large enough the precision of such a maneuver seems outrageous! I'd also say it's highly doubtful any singe individual is strong enough unaided to open a Gateway large enough for an animal as large as a raken

They could very easily have one damane make the gateway as another flies through. Once again size being the only obstacle.

Traveling has many applications for War, but the biggest benefits will be denied them since damane cannot link to create huge Gateways. It'll be great for small scale stuff, but without hundreds of damane available to move troops they just wind up like the Shaido when Sammael moved them clan by clan.

The only advantage I can see in making huge gates is the ability to move very large items like siege weapons, otherwise an organized army could move just as easily through 10 smaller gates than a large gate with 10 channelers. The singular large gate might even have a smaller total area compared to the 10 single gates.

As for the weapon; they now have some serious leads pointing to the fact that there is no such thing. They would surely believe the leader of the White Tower would know of such weapons.

I'm 99% sure that the Seanchan will become frustrated that they can't make the damane tell them what she knows rather than simply believe that Elaida (or any of the others) honestly have no idea about this weapon. Even if they rather quickly believe the captured women, they are more likely to just believe that there is another group who does know it and that they just didn't capture the right marath'damane

The collar should be able to tell them if the White Tower domane are telling the truth or not.

The Seanchan have to look at the raid as an amazingly successful endeavor. (especially when you look at all the new weaves they just learned, such as invisibility, illusion, healing)

They already have at least healing (they have several AS in custody already), which the vast majority of Seanchan want nothing to do with ... they have a pathological fear of anything to do with the OP and they tend to think of damane as equivalent to a domesticated animal, who's gonna let "Fido" play doctor? Semi-useless weaves like invisibility and illusion won't impress them since they have little practical battlefield application.

The Seanchan had basic healing, now they should have the more advanced healing as well as the ability to heal severed damane, and (perhaps even burned out damane). Invisibility and illusion could be very useful many ways such as; information gathering, sneak attacks, hidden attacks, and confusion in enemy ranks. I am probably missing many more advantages, but the point being, the Seanchan have just become vastly more dangerous.
All good things come to those who wait.
