Terrorists have the misguided thought that they are freedom fighters and truly believe in their cause, looking for their place in the afterlife.
What we've seen of the BA they are searching for personal earthly power and immortality. They are pack of women who would never sacrifice their lives for the cause! The only BA member who is willing to was Verin, and turns out she was sacrificing herself to redeem her soul!
Home grown American terrorists like McVey are much better analogies to the BA than Muslim terror groups. Meaning the BA are more like a bunch of douche-bags who feel like the establishment is holding them back.
