Tuon just didn't seem too worried about him going blind though... Gher Send a noteboard - 25/11/2009 08:44:42 PM
Would precisely be the point of corrupted Seanchan Prophecies, to assure that the Seanchan won't ally with the DR against the Shadow, but rather fight and try to capture him for the Crystal Throne. That's basically what Tuon wants to do, because of the Seanchan Prophecies, and what Semirhage advised Tuon to do in WH.

Yes, but if Ishy wanted to scare the Light and the Westland nations, he'd change the Karaethon Cycle, not the Essanik.

It also seemed that Ishy planned in TGH to have Egwene taken as damane to Seanchan in order to lure Rand there, so that he might be controlled by the Crystal Throne. We know that Ishy was Liandrin's and Suroth's master at that time, who plotted to capture Egwene.

Agreed.

I think it would be more difficult for Ishy to corrupt the Westlands Prophecies, because there were always AS, who preserved the true Prophecies. But as BS indicated, there also might be some errors in the Westlands Prophecies. Maybe Noal will shed more light on it, since Farstrider (who was also Ishy's tool) apparently translated the Prophecies, as we know from the beginning Prophecy of CoT.

More difficult, but not impossible. He had the Black Ajah, one of their projects could have been to slowly change the prophecies, whether by "discovering" new fragments of documents, or by mistranslating. He also controlled Farstrider like you said, so he could influence the Common Man's idea of the Prophecies, and if the entire public believed something, it's unlikely they'd take an Aes Sedai's word that it was wrong. Plus the Tower seemed to be in denial and didn't want people to know much about the Dragon Reborn , so they're not going to be educating the public.

Basically, Ishy very well could have changed some Karaethon Prophecies. And reading the Q&A you posted in your first post, it sounds very much like that's what happened. We just don't know which prophecies and how drastic the altering was.
