Did anyone familiar with Watchmen think the scene of Rand looking down in solitude and contemplating the fate of the world from Dragonmount was a bit too close to Dr. Manhattan on Mars looking at Earth and doing the same? When you throw in the emotionless aspect each assumed, the unique awesome power each holds, and the reason each decided not to give up was for love, the parallels are unmistakable. I know Sanderson has spoken glowingly about Watchmen, so perhaps this was conscious on his part.
