Just a few thoughts..
I just wonder what were your favorite chapters. Even though the chapter where Rand channels True Power made my blood freeze I still think of others as better. Right now my favorite two are these: chapter 30: Old Advice and chapter 50: Veins of Gold
Gawyns and Gareths man to man talk made me really remember my own talks with my father and I got that same feeling of spiritual bonding you get from a really good father to son talk. Brandon really conveyed in a good way what it means to pass on knowledge and philosophy based on a lives worth of experience.
And finally Rands contemplative chapter. Here he has to figure out who he really is and what he wants to and how he is to retain his humanity. He understands the error of his ways. This chapter is based alot on the scene in chapter 47 when Rand and Tam meet (finally!) and they have their father to son talk just like Gareth and Gawyn had. Had Rand not met Tam, then Rand would probably not have been "enlightened" (pun intended)
I think of those two as the most accomplished chapters. I think TGS contained good build-up for those two. Gawyn was in need of that talk thinking on how hot-tempered he is. But one has to think that he's basically had no one to guide him, since he has had no father around for a great time, just like Rand.
What do you think, which were your favorites?
