I hated that book, especially on re-reads.

I actually thought the short story version was a stronger read than the full release.
I really didn't like the "Who's Who" way this book trotted out Aes Sedai, how boring Lan essentially is (to me, at least) and the insipid way the decisive battle played out (we're both young, but we defeated older, more powerful/skilled/experienced experts...thank the Light! Oh, and let me Bond you!)...it seems like a Japanese anime rather than a novel, full of fanservice and vapid POVs.

I think quite a few people didn't like it simply because it came between CoT and KoD
