I do have to say, though, that I would have burst out laughing if he balefired Tuon and the Seanchan RugbyPlayingAshaman Send a noteboard - 13/11/2009 10:25:30 PM
Why should Rand be accepted as leader through Egwene's choice?

Why should he not wrest his leadership from all contenders by the power of his force.

Destroying the Choedan Kal was ridiculous. He could have sealed Tarwin's Gap through volcanic lava.

He could have shielded ALL Aes Sedai, and made them swear allegiance to him one by one. Including Egwene.

He could have crushed the Seanchan.

There is a saying "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely". It is a very similar choice to the one Gandalf and Galadriel made when frodo offered each the Ring in "Lord of the Rings". They will start out using it to do good but then get corrupted by it.

Another metaphore might be the Tower of Babel which breached the Heavens and thus had to be destroyed.

As for the Seanchan, he will need them and we know they will "serve" him.
He did the right thing.

I loved Dark Rand. I agree, I wish he was around longer. Should've come out earlier in the series. - 13/11/2009 03:23:59 PM 564 Views

You're right. But I'm very angry with the writers for portraying Egwene in such a positive way. - 13/11/2009 07:18:10 PM 523 Views
