She refuses to ask because the Aiel believe, essentially, that if you are an honorable, self-aware person than you should know what dishonorable thing you did.
The whole thing makes my teeth ache. As much as I like many individual Aiel characters, I'm glad the focus of the series as a whole is off of the Aiel.
