The "list" of names that Rand has in his head always starts off with Moiraine. He has blamed himself for her death along with all the other women on that list. Here is part of her letter to him:
I could not tell you, for the same reason I could not tell Lan. Even given the choices, I could not be sure which you would pick. Men of the Two Rivers, it seems, retain much of storied Manetheren in them, traits shared with men of the Borderlands. It is said that a Borderlander will take a dagger’s wound to avoid harm to a woman and count it fair trade. I dared not risk that you would place my life above your own, certain that somehow you could sidestep fate. Not a risk, I fear, but a foolish certainty, as today has surely proved....
And Rand's response to that excerpt:
“My choice, Moiraine,” he muttered. “It was my choice.”
What Rand needs to learn from her, and what Tam tried to tell him in tGS, is that everyone has a choice. Everyone has free-will. All the people that choose to fight along with him, or side with the Shadow, made their own choice of their own free will.
Just seeing Moiraine alive again will have its benefits. But, having an Aes Sedai he trusts will go a long way to ensuring he can learn to accept the help he needs to win the Last Battle.

Where once was Shadow
Now reigns Light
Darkness fades
Into the Night
I made the switch!

he's learned to laugh, her return will make him weep over all the things he's done...

Just because he's learned to laugh doesn't mean he trusts Aes Sedai
