He wasn't even a pansy in The Shadow Rising.

He totally was. Only marginally better than the whining, stupid pig head he was in the earlier books. Only reason I can read EotW and tGH is Nynaeve, I always get frustrated by Rand and Mat.

Some characters, the brightest, most glowing example being Logain, deserve all the crap that Rand can throw at them.
