At the beginning of everything, before time and matter, had been, as my ancestors believed, only one Being. He was the Primal Entity. His name, from Sanskrit, was SventoVit, it means HolyLord. He was alone and lonely. He wanted to have a partner, another being, friend or foe, somebody to hate and love. But he could not create him from space outside of himself, from nothing. He tried many time, but in vain. From nothing one can obtain only nothing.
Than he divided itself into two parts: Svarog and Veles. He does not ceased to be, he still existed as a being and a god, but manifested himself in a form of two subsequent gods. Do you understand this? I do not, as I do not understand Christian Trinity. I accept it.
Svarog became god of light (“var” in his name was from “hot”), living in heavens. He was also a smith, and he forged sun from gold. He was a master of sunny half of year, from spring equinox (Celtic: Bel Tine, Slavic: Arrival of Spring) to autumn equinox (Celtic: Halloween, Slavic: Day of Souls) . Every year he brought life and growth after winter. His name was very popular, and it is still rooted in names of peoples and places in Slavic countries. Perhaps, at some international airport you came across Svarovski’s shops with crystal trinkets? He had other names as well, most popular was Perun. His animals were birds of prey, eagle and falcon. Sounds familiar, isn’t it?
Veles became god of night. He reigned beneath the surface of earth. His time was fall and winter. He was a shepherd of souls of dead men and women. They were purified by him in holy places, mainly in forest with old, big oak trees. After that, souls were reincarnated. His animal was a snake as an underground living, but also an aurochs (wild bull). His name was frequently used to name people. Surname of Lech Walesa, “Solidarity” leader in Poland in eighties, is from him.
Both Svarog/Perun and Veles were in high esteem, but still most important god was Sventovid. His main temple Arkona was on the Baltic island, Rugia. It was robed and destroyed by Danes, AD1168, June 12th.
Robert Jordan was familiar with Celtic, Norse, Slavic, Jewish and other religions, myths and legends. From all of them, he adopted some concepts to construction the Wheel of Time cosmology. He was too subtle, to present it openly. He distributed hints on the nature of Creator, Pattern and Lord of the Dark/DO all over the books, but he never was obvious, he did not explained what they are, how they relate and what would happen to them.
Let us reconstruct WoT principal deities following rather Slavic pantheon, than Celtic or Norse, ( they are useful for explaining the features of Rand, Matrim and Perrin).

What remained from Creator after act of creation of the Universe, is the Dark One. It lacks the light, because it was spend on creation of matter. But he is a being, the Great Lord, the god, and still a part of Creator. Two parts, the Lord of the Light and the Lord of the Dark, coexist like two sides of a coin. One can not separate them and not brake the coin, but one can melt it into form of shapeless lump of alloy. So far, Creator and Destroyer are in the status of unstable equilibrium.
Who answered to Rand in CAPITAL LETTERS after battle of Tarvin Gap? Who answered to Demandred in CAPITAL LETTERS after battle of DW? It was the same entity.
Between them is a "wall". Mierin and Beidomon three thousand years ago drilled tiny bore through it. LTT clogged the bore but not tidy and not permanently. Lord of the Dark hates be separated, banned from reality. By bore he leaks to the Pattern and loosens reality. But its not enough for him, he wants to destroy whole reality, and return to existence, as he was before splitting. He wants to be whole again. But he can not do something to itself, by itself.
Creator established, that decision if reality shall be dissolved or not, was given to two champions: Dragon and Moridin. They also are balancing each other. If they agree, their common action will end Universe.
Moridin decided to brake time and reality. He wants to die and not be reincarnated. He do not want future to exist. He instigate Dragon to use balefire against Lord of the Dark, and by this unravel the Pattern. Of course nobody can kill the part of Creator, but it is possible to reshape him to the form of Primal Entity.
Dragon during deliberation “to be, or not to be” on the top of Dragonmount, came to conclusion that he rather will live and love, than die. He has to restore impervious "wall" between two parts of Dual Entity (Pattern and DO), by unraveling the web maintaining the bore. I expect him to achieve it at the final phase of the Last Battle.
