Actually, the one that Rand had Nynaeve study earlier was more complex.

It took about an hour for Nynaeve to undo.
The one placed on the nobleman was so obvious and heavy handed that Nynaeve saw immediately what it was even though there were so many flows directed into it that she had no way to figure out how to undo it.
In fact, I'm of the notion that Graendal planted a weave in him with special wardings that would go off if a male channeled nearby.
There is a reason Rand didn't risk confronting Graendal in her palace and it is easily because of all the Forsaken he's fought, there would be little chance he could defeat her on her own ground.
I'm of the opinion that she took one of the actions she said in a bit of foreshadowing earlier in the series - as soon as he came, and sent a messenger, she fled in order to live to fight another day.

I think it's fair to say at this point that Graendal did not kill Asmodean.

I thought so too, but KCF set me straight.. his response in a thread further down the board

Dead as Dumbledore. But why does it preclude her from being Asmo's killer?

Right. That info could easily be revealed through the POV of another. *NM*

Alive. It's the simplest answer for me, especially considering that Rand knew she was more cunning

Yes, it does. Distance causes maintained weaves and Links to attenuate.
