The AS's astounding incompetence is really one of the things that bugs me about WoT. There is a world of difference between being hampered by stupid traditions (as I assume was RJ's intention to portray them) and being borderline morons who squabble like little kids while the world is literally going down in flames. I don't like the average AS being out of touch with reality is used to prop up Egwene, Elayne, Rand or whoever the plto requires at the moment. One can write the main characters as competent without relying on the contrast with that character's moronic allies or foes.
The AS not helping the Borderlands much is just suicidally stupid, even by their standards. In there virtually everyone trains to be a fighter and do thier duty without whining but those who have natural abilities to do more than hundreds of fighters live in luxury far away from the battlefields?! And yet they are very respected in the Borderlands? How come? Shouldn't they be even more hated there than in say Cairhien?
Although, to ne honest, this pales in comparison to them not using the Oath rod to check for BA in their midst. Now, that takes the biscuit indeed.
Basically the Green Ajah isn't worse than the rest, I would assume at least soem of them actually see action in the Borderlands, which is mroe than I can say about The White Ajah...
At least in TGS Nynaeve finally woke up and realised that the AS hierachy is profoundly stupid, about time someone considered that the strongest in the power shoudln't automatically be considered leaders.
