Alright... the Graendal thing bothered me. So anti-climactic. I'm trying to think of ways that she could have Travelled out of there. And it's not working out for me. The only thing I can think of is that she purposely made it so the Compulsion would unravel within 20 minutes. Or something like that. But that would take a lot of foresight. There's no way she would have anticipated that Rand would do what he did. I suppose Moridin could have gone to her and said "he kills women now."
On the other hand, it worked in the story because it meant that from then on, we were worried what Rand would do next. We could no longer think "Rand would never do that," because he had done it.
I am sure I am over thinking the Balefire thing, but I tend to think that maybe she wasn't killed. We have never seen the effects of using Balefire on such a large scale. Lots of pattern unwinding occurred. I think the question needs to be asked, was it all destroyed at once, or was the building wiped out of existance from one side to the other? Couldn't the destruction of the building have resulted in Graendal never being there in the first place. While her pets don't have the ability to leave of their own free will, if the building ceased to exist prior to Rand using Balefire, Graendal would have left and never used the Compulsion. Of course, this kind of thinking starts to lead to a paradox. However, the point is that it may not be clear what the repercussions of this action were.
